# Officers Guide

## The officer's guide

For your police players. Share it as it is, or copy the parts you need into your own handbook. The keys below are the ones fs-police starts on. Players can change every one of them in GTA's settings: **Settings → Key Bindings → FiveM**.

### Keys

### Starting a shift

1. At the station's front desk: **\[E] SIGN IN**.
2. At the changing room: **\[E] PUT ON UNIFORM**.
3. At the armory: **\[E]** at the clerk for guns, kits, cuffs and barriers.
4. At the garage: walk up to the Garage Manager screen and pick a car.

Off duty you still get a short MDT (announcements and your own details) and the radial menu, but no dispatch and no police radio frequencies.

### The radial menu (Z)

| Entry                     | Does                                                                                                                                  |
| ------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **MDT** / **Dispatch**    | open the tablets                                                                                                                      |
| **Player interact** | Cuff, Uncuff, Put in vehicle, Take out of vehicle, Search, Check ID, GSR test, Document possessions, Put on / Take off ankle bracelet |
| **Escort** | walk a cuffed person with you |
| **Check bracelets** | where everybody wearing an ankle bracelet is |
| **PD camera** | take photos for the MDT gallery |
| **In a police car** | Radar, Vehicle Menu (liveries and extras, stopped only), Clear Fobs (when your server has it set up) |
| **On foot next to a car** | Impound, Lift Prints |

Cuffing shows a short white circle first: the person can still run while it fills.

### On the street

* **Spike strips, barriers and cones:** use the item from your inventory. A see-through copy appears in front of you: the mouse wheel turns it, **E** puts it down, **Backspace** cancels. Walk up to one and press **\[E]** to pick it up again.
* **Impound:** stand by the car and use **Impound** in the radial menu. A player's car goes to the impound lot; any other car is taken away.
* **Mugshots:** take a photo of a cuffed person in front of the mugshot wall. It goes on their MDT profile.
* **DNA:** at booking, with the person cuffed next to you: **\[E] DRAW DNA SAMPLE** (you need an evidence kit).

***

### Evidence

People leave things behind: **bullet casings** where they fire, **bullet fragments** where the bullets hit, **blood** where they get hurt, and **fingerprints** on the cars they drive.

1. **Find it:** aim a flashlight around the scene. Coloured marks show what the beam falls on: yellow casings, orange fragments, red blood.
2. **Bag it:** walk up and press **\[E]**. You need an evidence kit, which you keep.
3. **Fingerprints:** stand by the car and use **Lift Prints** in the radial menu.
4. **The lab:** take the bags to the Forensic Lab at the station: **\[E] ANALYSE EVIDENCE**. Every bag becomes a lab report in the MDT (Records → Documents), to attach to your case.

What a lab report tells you:

* **Casings:** the gun, its serial number and who it is registered to.
* **Blood and prints:** a code. A name is only given if that person's DNA has been drawn at booking.

Carry the bags in your pockets when you go to the lab. Evidence Storage and the Large Evidence Case carry them back to the station; take the bags out at the bench.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://fantasy-scripts.gitbook.io/docs/police-system/officers-guide.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
